Review:

The Fishpond Tailwind is a great addition to the High Country chest pack I already owned. The chest pack simply clicks onto the Tailwind with a few quick disconnect clips for simple on & off while on the stream. The nice part about the modular design is the fact that you can use the Tailwind either with, or without a chest pack. It is simply a daypack on its own, or clip the chest pack on for an awesome chest/backpack for those long day excursions when it requires you carry a lot of equipment into the back country. The two "built-in" rod tube holders add that extra flexibility that allows you to carry a few rods along the way without the worry of losing them because of the built in cinch straps. The water mesh water bottle compartments allow for you to carry extra water when required, or you can add a hydration bladder into the bladder compartment for a convenient way to carry a large amount of water with you for the day. I personally carry a 64oz bladder  that fits nicely and doesn't add a ton of weight. There is also an opening to hang the bladder hose out of the pack. The pack also has waist straps the assist in distributing the load which work awesome. With the pack packed, i was able to carry it without fatigue for extended periods. The picture to the right was taken at 9,500 feet elevation on the Wyoming Range on a recent back country trip where I wore this beauty form sun up to sun down. Packed full of lunch, gear, jacket, water, fly boxes, socks, and everything else you can think of, this pack was flawless. There are plenty of places for D-rings and to hang gear from such as floatant, hemostats, retractors, and all that good stuff a fly fisherman needs. The zipper compartment is a nice addition to hold your wallet & keys without worry of losing them!!! Al and all, this has got to be the best day pack I've ever owned and coupled with other Fishpond chest pack, these are unbeatable. You are defiantly NOT paying for the name, rather quality, on Fishpond's line of packs!!!
