FLY & FLOAT NEWS - 6/27/2008

    Today I am excited to inform you of this very exciting news that we've been dying to talk about for months now. Over the past two years flyandfloatfishing.com has published over 8 hours of free informational videos, we've held many free seminars, and donated our time to anyone willing to listen... all for free. We've managed to build simply the best free fly and float fishing website we can. The dedication on everyone's part to get it off the ground has blown me away and I want to personally thank each and every one of you that has made this as successful as it has become.

   With the success of the site I've been approached by people and business looking to partnership with us but never really felt comfortable with the situation and how it would effect Fly & Float as a whole. We worried that if we did partnership with anyone we would lose the freedom to run the site that way we wanted to run the site. Recently I've turned down offers to sell the domain name (which was not a hard thing to do.) I recognize how much of an impact this site has made in our community, especially but not limited to, "Steelhead Alley". Our visitor base has grown tremendously this past year with more and more visitors coming from other countries such as the Netherlands, UK, Canada, & Switzerland. The future of flyandfloatfishing.com will not change.. we're going to continue to bring you the same great free informational videos & free seminars as you have come to know. Brett will play a major role in the future of Fly & Float and look for others to come on board in the future.....

   This comfort level has changed with discussions between myself and Dan Pribanic of Chagrin River Outfitters over the past year. I've come to know and trust Dan over the year and realized he is one of the most dedicated people to this industry I have come to meet. Anyone that has been in the store to talk with him knows this first hand. His experience running Chagrin River Outfitters and his unmatched knowledge of fly fishing gear and techniques makes Dan the perfect partner and is what will allow our new company floatandflygear.com to be successful. The legal crap is all taken care of, the site is being built, just a few more things to tweak and we'll be live.

   Dan and I have been building a new online store over the past 6 months and because of the "brick & mortar" shop of Chagrin River Outfitters we can offer many products that your typical "online store" can not offer.  We're able to bring you the gear you want such as Beulah, Simms, Orvis, Raven, Islander, Ross, Sage, Fishpond, Rio.....just to name a few. And better yet, we know this gear... we use it...... It's the same gear we have tucked away in our basements. Every single product we will offer online has been tried and tested by us......

   The site is still being tweaked and it will be published this summer ready to take orders just in time for the steelhead season. In the initial stages of the site "going live", we will offer a limited product line including a full line of centerpin & float fishing equipment as well as switch rods and gear.. We will then transition over to bring the entire fly fishing line online shortly there after. By the time the steelhead season here in steelhead alley revs up, we'll have most all our products online including rods, reels, waders, terminal tackle, flies, line, vests, packs, clothing, and everything in-between.. It will be a full fledged online store......with a couple local guys running it.

Our experience in fly fishing, spey, the hot new switch rod craze, and the ever so popular centrepin (float fishing) methods make us a well rounded store with the experience to back it up. allows us to bring you products we know and trust..
